This 1979 Ford Mustang 2.3 "Four Eyes" is an early Fox Body car that has been restored in Germany. There are no real details on the restoration, other than the seller saying that "body/paint/axles/brakes/interior have all been restored".

The light blue car is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! right now. It is as clean as a nice Mustang should be: the baby blue paint looks good, the black accents compliment the car, and the black steelies fit in. Graphics on the door proudly proclaim MUSTANG 2.3S in black. I guess it is all part of what the seller calls "Rallye Style".

The interior continues the blue and black motive, using black and light blue houndstooth cloth on the seats, facing a seemingly flawless fake-wood-apliqué-on-light-blue dashboard, and a neat looking three spoke steering wheel.

I actually like the look. It looks all very late-seventies, malaise era sports car (which is what a late 70s Mustang wants to be). It all fits together quite well, it's a pleasing look, nothing really out of shape.

The two biggest nags I have with this car are the engine and the transmission, which of course can make or break the car. The engine is the four cylinder 2.3, making here a paltry 89 hp, not even one hundred horses! That is woefully inadequate for any self respecting Mustang. Also the car has an automatic transmission, which will only sap whatever driving pleasure you'd get from an under-powered Mustang. Being that it is a Mustang, however, engine and transmission upgrades are easy: a 5.0 donor car can be easily found, and a proper drivetrain installed to make this old blue Mustang move like it should.

There is a third nag too: The price. 6,250 Euro is asked of the buyer for the malaise era American import, which as of today's conversion rate is $8,530. It's not too expensive for such a clean, the car looks good, albeit slow. An engine upgrade should be right around the corner.

Is eight grand and some change Nice Price and Mustang über Alles; or is it Crack Pipe, too much for a slushbox Wahnsinn Foxbodywagen?

Would an engine and transmission upgrade be easy? I mean, if you're buying this Mustang, the assumption is that you're in Germany, or at least mainland Europe; malaise-era 5.0 Mustangs aren't all that easy to come by in Europe. And even if you did find one, it'd probably cost a decent bit more than this car.

Anyway, transmission/engine upgrade or no, Crack Pipe for me.

Let's assume the car can be brought to US free of charge (which is my case and I didn't even think of mentioning it).
